Dermatology

A veterinary dermatologist is a veterinarian who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin, auricles (ears), coat (fur), paws, claws, and nose in animals.

Often dermatological diseases are manifested by similar symptoms, but are associated with different causes, some of which are dermatological, sometimes endocrinological, oncological, or are associated with non-contagious pathology of internal organs.

If your pet has any of the following symptoms:

  • constantly itches or scratches himself until it bleeds (itching), even if it rarely itches;
  • intensively licks itself, especially paws, the skin between the fingers;
  • shakes his head, rubs his muzzle and eyes with his paws, scratches his ears;
  • areas of baldness (alopecia) are formed on the skin;
  • unpleasant odor from the skin or discoloration;
  • nodular formations, ulcers, thickening of the skin, etc. appeared.

Pet owners should remember that for any skin lesions, you should immediately contact a veterinary dermatologist who will help identify the cause and prescribe treatment. Many years of experience in clinical practice in the treatment of animals with dermatological diseases allows the dermatologists of the Zoolux clinic to provide your pet with the best dermatological care, with maximum comfort and efficiency.

The anamnesis data and preliminary diagnosis are entered into a special information computer database, a patient card is formed, which contains recommendations for treatment. Electronic recording of case histories is very convenient - it allows you to track the dynamics of the patient and provides information about all diseases and the method of their treatment for the period of the owner's visits to the clinic, as well as view them in the client's personal account.

Recommendations before visiting a veterinary dermatologist:

  • Pre-book an appointment by phone or on the website.
  • It is advisable that the owner or the person directly involved in the care and treatment of the animal bring the animal to the appointment, especially if the problem is long-term! This is necessary so that you can answer questions when taking a history of nutrition, antiparasitic treatments, previously used drugs (tablets, injections, ointments, etc.) and what happened during their use (improvement, worsening, no change).
  • Do not wash, do not apply cosmetics and medical products to the skin on the day of the examination (if possible, several days before the examination).
  • Do not clean your ears or put medication in your ears on the day of the examination (if possible, several days before the examination).
  • Please do not wear clothes that you are afraid of ruining or getting dirty, because you will have to hold the animal at the dermatologist's appointment.
  • If the animal is aggressive, it may interfere with a full dermatological examination (especially if the muzzle or ears are affected). Be prepared to restrain the animal yourself and put on a muzzle. If the animal is not socialized and aggressive, then a little sedation is likely to be needed, so do not feed the animal 6 to 8 hours before the appointment.
  • Dermatologists accept Zoolux by appointment.
