Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart)

Echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart)

ECHOCG (ultrasound of the heart)

Echocardiography (ECHOCG) in dogs, and especially in cats, is the only reliable way to detect heart disease.

Recall that ECHOCG is an expert method for assessing the size of the chambers of the heart. For example, if according to the results of an x-ray there is a suspicion of cardiomegaly, then only an echocardiogram will give an accurate answer to the question of whether the heart is really enlarged.

With the help of an ultrasound examination of the heart, the doctor can detect hidden heart defects, early changes in the heart muscle. For example, in cats, only with the help of echocardiography, various forms of cardiomyopathy are diagnosed: the phenotype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the phenotype of restrictive cardiomyopathy, the phenotype of dilated cardiomyopathy, etc. Echocardiography also allows assessing the degree of changes in the heart, identifying signs of impaired contractility, and the likelihood of clinical signs of heart failure in the near future.
