We remind you of the importance of preventing infectious diseases in animals.

Unfortunately, the lives of Ukrainians have changed dramatically recently. We are forced to solve many problems that we were not prepared for. Many problems have been relegated to the 2nd, 3rd, or even the last plan. However, (however), not very important things, if ignored, can create additional problems.

For Ukrainians who are now relatively safe, we would like to remind them of the importance of preventing infectious animal diseases.

Vaccinate puppies and kittens born shortly before February 24 - they should soon receive the first dose of the complex vaccine (from 8 weeks of age).

Puppies and kittens at this age are extremely vulnerable to infectious diseases, the most serious of which is infection with parvoviruses (parvovirus enteritis in dogs and panleukopenia in cats).

Try to follow the vaccination schedule recommended by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) and your veterinarian.

According to it:

- puppies and kittens should receive at least 2-3 doses of a comprehensive vaccine, and one dose of rabies vaccine;

- Older animals with unknown vaccination status should receive at least 2 doses of the complex vaccine and one dose of rabies vaccine;

- revaccination should be carried out annually for animals that have access to the street;

- fully domesticated previously vaccinated cats can receive the vaccine every 2-3 years (the decision is made together with the veterinarian).

Vaccinate your pets so that

- they have not suffered or died from diseases that can be successfully prevented by vaccination;

- you are not in a situation where access to veterinary care may be limited and the animal's symptoms (e.g., diarrhea in parvovirus enteritis) will make it difficult to stay in a shelter or evacuation vehicle;

- to avoid the death of the animal, because often even the best veterinary care is powerless against a number of infections (we are talking primarily about parvovirus enteritis, panleukopenia, carnivorous plague, calicivirus);

- to prevent the spread of infections among animals left unattended (in particular, such dangerous diseases for humans as rabies and leptospirosis);

- to simplify border crossing during evacuation (for example, a number of countries have allowed unvaccinated animals of Ukrainian refugees, but the rules may still change).

Take care of yourself and those you have tamed!

Everything will be Ukraine!
